LOSS & GRIEF
Loss can be a painful, overwhelming experience. Loss can have many forms. The loss of a significant person in your life; loss of your job, assets or property; The experience of losing one’s identity, sense of self, independence, purpose or meaning. Loss can be confusing and cause you to question your feelings or reactions. At times, you may experience conflicting, or overlapping with other feelings and other times you may not even recognize what you feel.
Sometimes, people report feeling “numb” or “empty.” Grieving is a process that has no specific time frame. It can affect every part of your life including your health, your work, your relationships and the image you have of yourself.
There are several manifestations of grief and every individual may experience loss and grief differently. There is no “right”, “wrong,” “normal” or “not normal” way to grieving.
With genuine empathy, I will support you in this process as you learn more about your own grieving. You will identify helpful sources of hope as well as coping strategies (e.g., planning daily activities, healthy use of memories, small rituals, ways to avoid isolation, etc.) and will reflect on your experiences at your own pace.
We will work together to address the complexities of your grief and move towards healing.
